2009 is nearly over and we look forward with some optimism to 2010 being a less difficult year. To assist with the improvement in luck our household will be indulging in our normal superstitious practices. These involve putting a collection of coins out on New Year’s Eve and bringing them in with the new air on New Year’s Day. This is supposed to ensure that money comes into the house throughout the year. I guess we must have used some foreign coins by mistake last year.
We also entice a large, dark–haired stranger across the threshold – more difficult than it sounds in a cul–de–sac of blondies and baldies.
Of course before the New Year festivities, there is Xmas to enjoy. Personally I have always loved Xmas and still look forward to opening presents and moaning about the lack of decent programmes on the TV. Despite the over commercialisation, overeating and drinking too much, for me, Xmas remains the best time of the year.
I wish all of you a great Xmas and a happy and successful New Year.
