WDC was formed in 2007 to act as a catalyst for growth, investment and aspiration in the city. Working to meet the ambitious targets of The Black Country Study, we facilitate and spearhead the speedy delivery of high quality developments.
Partnerships are fundamental to our future success. The organisation was formed initially by three organisations: Advantage West Midlands, Wolverhampton City Council and the Homes and the Homes and Communities Agency (formerly English Partnerships). There has been a tremendous amount of support from the private sector, including the Wolverhampton Chamber of Commerce, Carillion Developments and HBOS Intermediaries, and from across the public sector, including the University of Wolverhampton, ABCD New Deal for Communities, and Wolverhampton City Council.
Alongside a focused and professional executive and governance, WDC is committed to engaging with the people of Wolverhampton and build on their huge sense of pride. Key to judging the future success of WDC is the need to ensure that opportunities created are accessed by the people of Wolverhampton.
WDC’s mission is to further increase the pace, scale and quality of growth opportunities – delivering real change for the people of the city.
