WDC is determined to create a high quality public realm in which the people of Wolverhampton can live, work, and thrive. We’re here to create an architecturally impressive Wolverhampton that is prosperous and socially inclusive. In short, a great place to be.
An economic masterplan for the city will be produced to provide a single unified framework of economic strategy, physical development and place making. We’re masterplanning the city centre into a series of distinct but connected quarters – Western, Civic and Cultural. We want world-class, iconic architecture in Wolverhampton.
We’re already making positive progress and are working in partnership with developers and public sector organisations alike to deliver exciting schemes such as:
- Victoria Hall, a 750-unit student complex including an iconic 25-storey tower which will create a memorable gateway to the city
- i54, the 226-acre technology and innovation-focussed flagship project where internal site infrastructure work has already started
- Interchange, the landmark mixed use scheme which brings together the metro, railway and bus station and is due to start on site in late 2009
- Raglan Street, retail and housing scheme
- Royal Hospital, commercial and housing scheme
- Eye Hospital, gateway housing scheme
- A series of mixed use schemes along Stafford Road.
