Workers at the Victoria Hall construction site had a surprise visitor when the Mayor of Wolverhampton dropped by to check progress. Hosted by WDC, the Mayor was joined by representatives from the city council and university on the tour of the £37 million development.
Although contractors have only been on site for five months, the development is quickly taking shape thanks to the use of innovative building techniques and is scheduled to be completed this autumn.
Bob Crompton, chief executive of Victoria Hall Ltd, explains: “The apartments are made up of a series of pods which are built off-site then lifted into position by crane. This approach means build quality is consistently high and we can complete the construction more quickly. Had we used traditional methods, we’d be on site for two years rather than just one.”
