The 18th century hotel, which overlooks Wolverhampton Wanderers' football stadium, was shut in 1979 and nearly destroyed by fire in 2003. However, a campaign was launched to save the Grade II-listed building.
WDC selected The Molineux Hotel as the city's first landmark to be part of its heritage lighting scheme.
